Grace Bible Church

This report gives a glimpse of the ways in which God has graciously allowed GBC to participate in the Kingdom of God beyond our walls in the past year.

HOW DO WE
COMPRISED OF LAY LEADERS
GLOBAL MISSIONS
COMMUNITY MISSIONS
DOMESTIC DISCIPLESHIP
THE TEAMS HAVE
1

Stewardship of GBC’s missions funds

2

Care and encouragement of our ministry partners

3

Mobilization of others to serve with our partners

People are asked to serve on these teams by our missions staff as we look around and see people faithful to the purpose statement of our church who have evidenced a commitment to service and leadership around GBC.

(they’ve been small group leaders, Sunday school teachers, etc.)

EACH TEAM HAS A

This past year we had the following leaders:

MEGAN
MAZZAPICA

(Global)

JEREMY
HUNT

(Community)

JONATHAN
PARKER

(Domestic)

GBC prioritizes seeking fewer, deeper relationships in lieu of more, but shallower partnerships.

a brief catechism for short-term trips

To better understand why GBC participates in short-term mission trips, we’ve created a brief catechism. What’s a catechism, you ask? It’s a summary of principles in the form of questions and answers for the purpose of instruction.

WHAT IS A SHORT-TERM
MISSION TRIP?

A short-term mission trip is a journey with a strategic purpose.

WHY DOES GBC
PARTICIPATE IN SHORT-
TERM TRIPS?

GBC sends people on short-term trips to support the long-term work of our ministry partners around the world.

WHY SHOULD YOU
CONSIDER JOINING A
SHORT-TERM TEAM?

We enjoy the Lord most when using our gifts to participate in His Kingdom, and in this work, God teaches us much as we connect with the global body of Christ.

WHERE DO TEAMS GO
ON SHORT-TERM TRIPS?

We send teams to work alongside and encourage our global ministry partners where they work. Because group trips have varying strategic importance to different partners, we don’t visit every ministry every year. In the past few years we’ve sent teams to: Nepal, Albania, Haiti, the Philippines, Turkey, and Lebanon.

HOW DOES ONE
PARTICIPATE IN A SHORT
TERM TRIP?

Check out our website page (https://www.gbchouston.org/gbctrips) that shares about upcoming trips or e-mail sarah@gbchouston.org for upcoming trip details or to talk about which trip might be the right fit for you!

CRU works on college campuses teaching, discipling, and mentoring staff and volunteers. They work closely in partnership with the local/global church to help raise the next generation of disciples of Christ in Albania, Eastern Europe, and beyond.
2019 is the 3rd year to send a GBC team to host English camps with CRU Albania and the 2nd year sending a team for outreach/evangelism in the fall
This year GBC hosted a discipleship trip for new believers simultaneously with the English camp.

  • Dave Ten Have founded the Ambry in 2012 to walk alongside men recovering from substance abuse
THE MINISTRY IS PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON:
Connecting recovering addicts with local church men in order to encourage mutual flourishing.
Creating weekly fellowship opportunities for men in all stages of recovery for support, prayer, and community.
Creating weekly fellowship opportunities for church men giving the Holy Spirit an opportunity to grow and use them while helping others.
Providing housing for men just exiting from a structured recovery program to help them transition from back into daily life.

GET INVOLVED!

Let’s unite men in recovery and members of the church so they may find healing together

SERVE A MEAL

The Ambry hosts a dinner every Monday night at one of ours houses called Isaiah House. We’d love for you to bring a meal, connect, and enjoy the fellowship that follows.

BECOME A PART OF THE COMMUNITY

The Ambry benefits greatly from people who come weekly to create relationships. Come as you are, get to know our friends, and invite these men to GBC.

The Forge is strategically located in Houston’s Greater Third Ward.

The Third Ward has a beautiful history, but it has more recently faced extreme challenges in poverty, crime, drugs, and the destruction of the family unit. The Forge and its many volunteers offer children and their parents a special place to grow spiritually, educationally, and physically.

The Forge operates according to
1 Thessalonians 2:8:

"We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us."

The ministry staff and volunteers share the gospel and their lives with Third Ward families through numerous programs, including:

  • Tutoring children after school
  • Coaching youth basketball, volleyball, and soccer
  • Mentoring middle and high school students in a youth group setting called The Set
  • Coaching and educating the Forge’s elite, traveling His Hoops basketball team
  • Summer Camp counseling or chaperoning select camp experiences
  • Helping host church mission groups who come to serve and learn about relating to the community
  • Participating in Bible studies with formerly incarcerated adults

The Forge has been a valued ministry partner of GBC for many years. GBC partners have served at the Forge and been enormously blessed by the experience. If you would like to learn more about the Forge and opportunities to serve please go to www.forgeforfamilies.org or call 713-660-1860.

WHY DO WE SHARE
sec_13_1

We want to be reminded that He is at work to transform the world every single day.

From within our local church, we are part of THE church, the bride of Christ that represents His Kingdom in a fallen world. So let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works unto the glory of our great God.
